your quizzing will be complete; the trophies are just topping. I would

Hey Dawn and Quizzers,
First, let me say welcome to my Alma Mater. Greenville is a special
place to me, I attended finals there twice - that exposure helped me
choose it for my college education. I hope you enjoy yourself there.
As a former quizzer, coach and quizmaster, I know what you all are
experiencing right now. I just wanted to offer some encouragement.
I'm sure you all are having fun...and the reason you are there is to
compete against other teams...but the most important thing is not
winning...at least not a trophy or the applause of men.
Paul exhorts the church in Corinth: "Do you not know that in a race
all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way
as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict
training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to
get a crown that will last forever." (I Corinthians 9:24-25)
And in Philippians, Paul encourages the church at Phillipi: "I press on
toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward
in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 3:14)
Indeed, you are in training; and the most important thing as a participant
in quizzing is to hide God's Word in your heart and use what you learn to
impact the world for Christ. Act always in humility and as people of love
and compassion. Trophies collect dust and decay throughout the years, but
the Word of God is "sharper than any double-edged sword." And you can bet,
in the end, it's not the trophies, but what you do with what you learn that
matters to God.
I exhort you...run the race to win. Run the race Christ has called us to
complete. The winners are those who mirror Christ's humility, love and
compassion for people.
Keep up the good work. I'm praying for you to have a wonderful week and
that you grow in Christ.
